Résumé

Fra Parigi e Londra, Dickens ambienta le vicende di un gruppo di persone coinvolte negli eventi della Rivoluzione francese e del periodo del Terrore: Charles Darnay, un aristocratico francese, vittima di accuse indiscriminate da parte dei rivoluzionari, e Sydney Carton, un avvocato inglese che cerca di redimere la propria vita per amore della moglie di Darnay. Vi si trovano tutti i temi classici del romanziere inglese: l'oppressione e la violenza, la povertà e la nobiltà di spirito, il sacrificio e la redenzione.
